Have you visited there? Not yet. Start planning for your upcoming vacations to visit there. Also known as Jatayu Rock or Jatayu Earth’s Center. An adventure park at Chadayamangalam in Kollam district holds the distinction of housing the World’s largest bird sculpture of great bird Jatayu .

ABOUT THE PARK

Travellers and vacationers, here’s the good news!!!!
The adventure park is open for you through out the year. Constructed in 2019 , this 65 acre tourist attraction is located at the peak of 1200 ft hill overlooking the kollam district. The statue of the bird is 200 ft long , 151 metres broad and 69 ft tall . Sounds exciting! This place is must to visit once in lifetime.

ETYMOLOGY

Remembered the giant bird Jatayu from the epic Ramayana? The town’s name Chadayamangalam or Jatayumangalam stems from Jatayu, the demi-god who has the form of a vulture.

IMPORTANCE

A legendary bird of importance for Hindus around the world from the epic tale Ramayana. Jatayu stands for loyalty and protection, the sculpture itself has been dedicated to SAFETY OF WOMEN.

MYTHOLOGY

Here’s the story of victory of good over evil.
As per Ramayana, Ravana abducted Sita to Lanka. Jatayu tried to rescue Sita from Ravana when Ravana was on his way to Lanka, Jatayu fought valiantly with Ravana, but as Jatayu was very old, Ravana soon got the better of him. Rama and Laxamana while searching for Sita chanced upon the stricken and dying Jatayu, who informs them of fight between him and Ravana and told them that Ravana had headed towards South. It is believed that Jatayu fell on the rocks in Chadayamangalam after his wings were clipped by Ravana.

DIG ABOUT THE PARK

Designed by renowned filmmaker and sculptor Rajiv Anchal. The 100 crore rupees {US$14 million} worth initial phase of Jatayu National Park, is the first PPP tourism initiative in the state of Kerala under the BOT model ecotourism project is operated by Jatayupara Tourism.
The Dubai Corporation for Tourism & Commerce’s director of stakeholder relations, Majid Ali Marsi visited the under construction Jatayu Nature Park along with the chief minister of Kerela Oommen Chandy.
